Why are health guarantees important?

In the context of puppy sales, a health guarantee is a written agreement between the breeder and the buyer that outlines the breeder’s commitment to the puppy’s health.

Genetic Defects: Many guarantees cover genetic conditions that can be passed down from parents to offspring, such as hip dysplasia, eye problems, or heart conditions. The breeder may agree to replace the puppy or offer a partial refund if a serious genetic condition is diagnosed within a certain timeframe (usually within the first year or two of the puppy’s life).

Infectious Diseases: Some guarantees may cover certain infectious diseases that the puppy might contract shortly after leaving the breeder, such as parvovirus or distemper.

Vaccinations and Deworming: The guarantee may state that the puppy has received age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming treatments before leaving the breeder.

Conditions Not Covered: It’s important to note that health guarantees often have exclusions. These might include conditions that are not considered genetic, such as injuries, illnesses caused by neglect or improper care, or conditions that develop later in the dog’s life.

Our Guarantee Covers:

  • Hip Dysplasia, Elbow Dysplasia, certain genetic eye disorders
  • within the first 2 years of the puppy’s life

Conditions of the Guarantee:

  • Regular Veterinary Care: The guarantee is valid only if the puppy receives regular veterinary checkups and preventative care according to the veterinarian’s recommendations.
  • Proper Nutrition: The puppy must be fed a high-quality, age-appropriate diet.
  • Responsible Ownership: The guarantee does not cover conditions resulting from neglect, abuse, or improper care.

Should a covered condition be diagnosed, we will work with you to determine the appropriate course of action, which may include:

  • Reimbursement for veterinary expenses related to the condition.
  • Replacement of the puppy (in certain circumstances).

This health guarantee is designed to provide you with confidence and support as you welcome your new Toy Poodle puppy into your family.
